Hand of Hope is an organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of people in southern Ethiopia and Kenya through orphan care, aid to the poor and evangelism.
Orphan Care
Hand of Hope reaches out to many orphans throughout our ministry area in Ethiopia and Kenya.  Many of these children have been orphaned as a direct result of HIV/Aids.  HOH provides the opportunity for these children to obtain an education as well as have their basic needs met.

Guidelines have been set up to ensure that the selection process is fair and that we choose the children whom we can help the most.  All HOH children are required to attend school regularly.  Each child's case is renewed on a yearly basis once their case has been re-evaluated.  Bake Chenfo, a dedicated volunteer in Mega, serves as coordinator of the Children's Program and follows-up regularly with all of these children.  Hassan Bagaja and his wife Hawo, volunteer their time to coordinate the Children’s Program in Kenya.

We will not commit to a child unless sufficient funds are available to support the child for at least a one year period.  We began in 2006 with two HOH Children.  By May of 2010, this program had grown to 30 children!  Presently, there are more than 60 children in the program.  The need is great.
Aid to the Poor
In 2008, Hand of Hope volunteers help to build the first two HOH Homes in Mega, Ethiopia and presented them to needy families in the area.  Since then, four more homes have been built.

Recipients moved into these homes with their meager belongings — consisting of a few clothes, simple bedding and very little household goods.  Through the generosity of supporters, HOH was able to furnish the homes with simple furnishings (bed, mattress, table and chairs) along with some basic household supplies (bedding, pots, pans, and a lantern). 

Land is available to build four more homes.  HOH hopes to raise sufficient funds to be able to build these homes in the near future.
 
Evangelism
Hand of Hope Ministries partners with local churches throughout southern Ethiopia and Kenya.  There are currently agreements in place with seven churches.  Hand of Hope agrees to provide a certain amount of funds to be used exclusively for evangelism in rural areas.  The partner church is responsible for hiring evangelists and following up on their ministry.

Six partner churches, with a total of 15 evangelists, are located in major towns throughout southern Ethiopia.  HOH has one partner church in Kenya working with one evangelist.
