In July 2018, the HOH mission team visited Mwangaza Top View Academy (MTVA) in Golole, Kenya. MTVA is located in Golole, Kenya – not too far from the Ethiopian border. The school currently has around 270 students, many of who come from neighboring villages across the border in Ethiopia. Among these students, nearly 40 children walk daily from their village in Ethiopia to Golole to attend school. Their families have already sacrificed a lot for their children to attend school, but cannot provide them with food to carry with them and eat during their lunch break. As a result, these children don’t eat lunch.
In November 2018, we held a fundraiser to raise $3,500, which would cover the cost of a nutritious lunch for these children for one entire school year. We not only met but surpassed our goal! We hope to continue this program and one day be able to offer it to every child attending MTVA.
******* UPDATE: The Lunch Program is continuing into its fifth year! Sufficient funds have been raised to enable it to continue through 2025!

Prior to the implementation of the Mwangaza Lunch Program, student would sit around during their lunch break with nothing to eat....waiting for afternoon classes to resume.
